Once again I am OT, but I thought you might like this film I just discovered. "Faubourg Trémé" about Blacks in New Orleans.

The trailer looks rather promising. It is also on youtube. I would like to recognize the site Boingboing where I found the reference.

BTW, if you haven't seen Ken Burns's documentary on WWII on PBS, "The War", you should. It has several segments on the racism in the U.S. Some surprising - or maybe not so - things on the home front.

Furthermore, one of my favorite Americans in Europe was the writer Chester Himes. He became famous in France for his hilarious police novels about Harlem, but he also wrote about his experiences.

Like "If He Hollers Let Him Go". Look him up on Wiki.

Chester Himes was my paternal grandmother's first cousin!
